I am a self taught linocut printmaker. Throughout my life I always love to work with my hands, from batik, lampworking, and novice carpentry. I find myself most present when I am printmaking. I truly love the learning process, discoveries from my mistakes and the joy of a beautiful final piece. Creating art makes me happy. I hope my prints make you happy too!
The Process:
Linocut is a printmaking technique, a variant of woodcut in which a sheet of linoleum is carved. Linoleum is a natural material made of linseed oil, pine resin and sawdust. Every print starts with drawings and sketches before the design is carefully carved from linoleum blocks with carving tools. Next, ink is rolled on the block to check that the image is correct and carving is complete and each print is individually inked, hand pressed, and then hung to dry in my studio. The result is a unique and lovingly made hand-printed linocut print.
